Hi, this is Sai / Pitshaya Chonato.
Digital Designer & Design Researcher

About Me
Hi, I'm Sai ! I'm a data designer who also loves to do design research with data & technology, making complex data feel meaningful and accessible in people's lives. My works span health design, data storytelling, civic technology, designing together with people and relationships—all exploring how data can support human experiences that the data came from.
Background
I recently completed my MSc in Design for Interaction at Industrial Design Engineering, TU Delft with Medisign Specialization (focusing on design for health context), where I explored how families collaboratively make sense of health data. Before that, I worked for four years at Punch Up and WeVis as UI/UX designer, designing interactive data visualizations on healthcare, climate change, and social issues in Thailand—from government transparency platforms to environmental storytelling that brings data to speak to people.
Approach
My work is grounded in participatory design methods that position people as experts of their own experiences. This aligns with data humanism—seeing data as relational material rather than neutral numbers. I'm particularly interested in how families and communities already make sense of information together, and how technologies can support rather than replace these collaborative practices among people. I focus on designing with the relationships and contexts that make data meaningful to people.
Interests & Focus
My current interests center on human-data interaction, health design research, and family-centered technologies. I'm particularly drawn to exploring how participatory design can bridge healthcare and data visualization, creating more inclusive approaches to health information that work within existing care relationships.
What's next !?
I'm seeking opportunities to continue exploring how thoughtful design can make data work better for the people who live with it—honoring the lived experiences where the data comes from, whether in academic research or health innovation contexts.
